Cleanliness and hygiene are important, but so is our environment and our fellow human beings. This is why we strive to achieve ethical and sustainable products that are responsibly sourced. Here’s some examples:
Palm
- Due to our concerns regarding deforestation and the validity of RPSO certified palm products, we made the decision that our products will NOT contain palm oil or any palm-derived ingredients.
- This has made product formulation extremely challenging, but we have worked hard to find suppliers that are able to provide us with palm-free alternatives or equivalents.
- Commonly used ingredients derived from palm are stearic acid, cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol, polysorbate 80, SCS, cocamidopropyl betaine, SLS and SLeS.
- We don’t use cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol, polysorbate, SLS or SLeS in our products and we use “palm-free” versions of stearic acid, SCS and cocamidopropyl betaine which have been produced from non-palm sources.
- To replace the cetearyl and cetyl alcohol we use either a palm-free version of stearic acid, or brassica alcohol, both derived from rapeseed oil. We use these as thickeners to make our shampoo and conditioner bars harder and more durable.
